We drove to Galveston, Tx. this past January 2016 in a 2000 Toyota Sienna XLE pulling a 2016 Coachmen, Clipper and the trip was absolutely wonderful.
If you ever get a chance, go there! We camped at Galveston Island State Park. They, (the employees) were the best.
They have camping on the Beachside which is right on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. Simply beautiful. They also have Bayside camping for you fishermen and bird watchers. Both sides are wonderful.
Clean and spacious bath houses too. Did I mention that it just happened to be Mardi Gras and the hotels and motels were $150 - $210 a night? Where at the camp ground it was $25 a night or day, so we stayed an extra few days.
