RV Water Pump Sputters and Does Not Pump Water

by Anonymous

Our RV water pump runs but we don't get water? It spurts for a bit then just makes noise. If we shut off the taps for a while, it will do the same thing. We are not on and don't have access to city water. We rely on tank water. I also checked the filter on the pump and it was clean?

Thanks

It sounds like your RV Water Pump is not getting the water from the tank. I am going to assume that you have also checked for an Inline Water Filter between the fresh water tank and the suction side of the pump.

If all of the above is true the problem could be a loose connection at the water pump, a cracked or kinked water supply hose between the tank and the pump that is causing the pump to suck air and not water. There could also be an inline shutoff valve that is closed.

Lastly the problem could be with the water pump itself not creating enough suction to prime the pump. The pump itself could have a bad seal or gasket or an internal problem. In this case the RV water pump would have to be rebuilt (if a rebuild kit is available for your brand and model pump) or replaced.

I hope this helps.
