When you take your pooch along on an RV pet road trip the road in your RV, there are a few things you should remember to carry with you. These items can help keep your pooch safe and comfortable during your RV trip. It doesn’t matter if you’re going 5 miles or five hundred miles, keep these items in mind when you pack for your next pet road trip.
The most important travel accessory involves the safety of your pet. How your pet rides in the car depends on his size. However, safety is always first, so make sure your pet is secured for the entire trip. Small pooches can easily ride in car seats. Don’t be confused with car seats: realize that there are car seats specifically designed for dogs. These seats secure to the seat belt, keeping your pet in place. They are comfortable, and they allow your pet to see outside the car. Many people believe that pet carsickness can be avoided if the pet has greater visibility of the car’s surroundings. Whether or not the car seat cures your dog’s carsickness, it can keep him securely in one place.
If you don’t have a small dog, then there are other options for traveling with your pet. If you own an SUV, one of the more popular options is the net barrier. These barriers are normally made of mesh, so it’s easy to keep an eye on your pet during the trip. They are simple to set up and easily adjustable to fit many vehicles. If you have an elderly or small pet, then you may want to consider keeping a portable ramp in your RV. The ramp will help your dog get in and out of the vehicle with ease. When shopping, look for a lightweight ramp that can fold up (saving a ton of space). Pay attention to the material on the walkway, and make sure it has some sort of grip for your pet.
The last necessary items for your road trip are food and water bowls. You can stop periodically and fill traditional bowls for your pooch to eat and drink, or you can use travel bowls that allow him to eat and drink during the trip. Look for bowls designed specifically for boats and RVs, since they are great for preventing spills
Taking your pet on an RV pet road trip can be a wonderful experience for both of you. Before you leave, you’ll need to make sure that your pet is packed and ready to go, too. Make sure he or she has a safe, comfortable place to ride, a way to get in and out of the RV and feeding dishes.
