How to Watch TV While Camping

by Amy Smith
(Henderson NC)

We are camping in a few weeks and would so love to be able to watch TV a little! What would we need to buy to be able to do this?

ANSWER: Hi Amy I am going to assume that you are going camping in an RV. The first thing you are going to need is a 120 Volt power source to your RV unless you have a 12 volt DC TV. The 120 Volt power can be from the Campground electrical hookups or the generator of your RV.

I am going to assume that your RV already has a TV antenna on it. If the TV you have does not have a Digital Tuner built into it then you are going to need to connect the TV to a Digital TV Converter Box so you can receive over the air digital signals that most TV stations now broadcast in. The one we use and highly recommend is the Zinwell ZAT-970A Digital to Analog TV Converter Box.

Those are the basic items that you will need to watch TV while camping. For more detailed information I suggest you read the answers I gave to Does Our RV Need A Digital TV Converter box?, How Do I Install A Digital TV Converter Box In My RV?, How Can We Improve The Digital TV Reception In Our RV? and for even more information you should visit our Digital TV Tips For RVers Page.

I hope this helps.

Hi my name is Jesus and I work with DISH Network. They are offering a new way to tak tv with you anywhere. It called a Sling adapter. It allows you to access your TV and DVR from your 3G mobile devices and high speed internet. This will make watching TV in you RV no matter where you are a lot easier. Check out dishnetwork.com for mor info.
