Wildwood Ultra Lite Travel Trailer Floor Is Sagging

by Anonymous

2010 Ultra Lite Travel Trailer Wildwood floor sags after I-Beam frame.

ANSWER: With the limited information you have provided me I have no way of telling you why the floor on your Travel Trailer is sagging. The problem could be caused by water damage to the floor or could even be a manufacturer’s defect.

Considering how new this travel trailer is you should not have a sagging floor. Whether your Travel Trailer is still under warranty or not I would suggest that you contact the RV Dealer that sold it to you and setup an appointment to have them take a look at it and determine what the problem is.

If the dealer is no longer in business or if you feel that they are not being helpful in fixing the problem, then I suggest that you contact Forest River Incorporated the manufacturer of your Travel Trailer. You can call Forest River at 574-389-4600.

I would also be interested to hear from any other RVers that have this brand trailer to find out if they are experiencing the same problem as you are.

Please leave a comment on this page and let us know what you find out.

Sorry that I could not be of more help.

2020 Forest River Wildwood 27re Sagging floor
by: Anonymous

My brand new 2020 Forest River Wildwood 27re has soft spots around the kitchen island and living room. I contacted the dealership and I was given a contact person in the warranty department. I have had the worst customer service experience! The man handling my claim sent me an email with someone else's RV problems. I've found a qualified RV specialist that submitted the needed repairs but it's been weeks now and still nothing from Forest River in Indiana.

I can't even enjoy my new RV due to the unstable floor.
I feel invisible to these people as if I don't matter now that they have my money.

I'm not giving up on this and I will pursue this to the full extent until this defect is repaired.
I will keep you posted.
Best wishes to you.

Same issue with significant sagging in the most used areas. I contacted our dealer and they said it’s normal. I’m going to call Forest River after reading all these comments.

Wildwood 17EXL Backpacker Edition
by: Ron

Bought this 17EXL brand new in 2010. After 2nd year of very light use, the floor developed soft spot by the entrance door. Now, a few years later, the entire floor is very soft anywhere there would be foot traffic. No signs of water damage. I'm becoming afraid to use it, since I don't want someone falling through! What a ridiculously bad design.

We bought this camper new in 2010 have used it maybe 8 times been stored for two years and pulled it out to get ready too use and about went through the floor in front of bunk beds at bathroom door. The camper has no leaks in roof no leaks at slide out no windows leaking and no rips in vinyl floor and no rips in underneath we finally got ahold of forest river after a email and 5 voicemails in five days and customer service call back and said her manager said it was out of warranty and there is nothing they can do The camper still looks brand new and still haven't used the first tank of propane from dealerships. Called back and left another voicemail wanting the manager to call me and tell me why they can't fix this issue if there is this many customers having the same trouble any suggestions on what to do if they won't fix it Waiting to here from manager. Very pissed

We too have the same issue with our 2010 XL-Lite Wildwood. We started to notice it last fall when we winterized it. But over the summer this year, it gradually got worse and worse and now the whole floor is affected. Some spots are sunken while other areas are heaved. I just contacted our dealer today and they referred me to Forest River direct. I have left a message with a Forest River rep and am anxious to hear how this can be resolved.

I am at a total disappointment with my 2010
26 forest river XLite , Indiana Built .
Sagging floor problem , as well.
How can they get away with this , is there no control
from the government, what they allow on the ROAD
They are putting lives in danger, this company .

2010 18bhxl owner here
by: Anonymous

I purchased mine from the 2nd owner. Soft spot inside the door, which engulfed the entire front floor within a 6 months. We tore out the sofa and pulled back the vinyl and were greeted with black mold and a OSB floor that was completely rotted. When removing the sofa base, the screws into the wall were also rusted. I contact Forest River via email with a nice but strongly worded email about the damage.

They ran my vin# and agreed to repair it but charged me a 'deductible'. I asked for before and after photos (insurance wanted this) and the water was coming in from both front corners at the roof. There was black mold in the walls and studs. They completely replaced the floor and made it a 2x2 floor with tongue/grove plywood. They also completely replaced the front framing as well as other fit/finish repairs. They went above and beyond and stood by their product. I'm still mad about the deductible, but my trailer is as good as new.

I had the same issue with my Forest River and when finally figured out how to contact the factory found out they had a bad run when it was constructed. Warranty was expired but they replaced the entire floor at no cost to me! Results were awesome! Worst thing was driving it to Goshen IN in a level 3 snow emergency.. Dealers do not know how to address this problem. You have to keep pushing until you reach the factory.

if you are having this problem -- file a complaint with NTSB

Anybody having this issue should file a complaint with the NTSB.

The more complaints they receive on this issue, the more likely the issue will become a recall...

We also purchased a 2011 x-lite camper. Leaked not sure where the water came in. We had it two years the warranty had just run out.The entire floor needs to be replaced. I called forest River and they gave me $1500 which wasn't even close to the cost of replacing it. Im trying to sell it as is can't even get $4500 for it. I took a big loss on it I would never buy a forest river product again.

2010 wildwood 19xlt has major sag in floor between door and bed. Barely 3 years old and we also noticed what looks like roof leak. Will contact dealer next week when home from trip. At this point we feel like getting rid of it as it will not last long from what we can see. Very poorly built unit.

Sagging Floor on Wildwood 17EXL
by: Anonymous

I had the same problem with my 2010 Wildwood 17EXL floor. It started sagging near the shower and upon further examination, the floor sagged into the kitchen as well. I took it to a dealer I didn't buy the trailer from who in turn contacted Forest River. Forest River came and picked up the trailer, removed all of the flooring and fixed everything for me, including items that I didn't realize needed fixing (e.g., installing gutter extensions outside at all four corners, replacing the tires, etc.). They are a great company to work with!

Basically, we have a brand new trailer at this point and continue to love it.

Manufacturing defect
by: Anonymous

Hi folks, I had the same problem with my 2010 Wildwood 17exl. After much haggling I sent it back to Forest River, they stated that the underbelly was not properly wrapped during the manufacturing process.

Their solution was to replace the floor and any damaged wood.

Hope this helps.

Just a quick follow up on my 2011 28bhxl. I contacted forest river about my problem and they agreed to replace my floor. They offered me a discount on a new, more expensive trailer so I took that deal and traded my old(2011) 28bhxl. I was satisfied with the deal a got in the end. my advise to anyone with any problems would be to contact forest river themselves even if the dealer made you an offer. One more thing , never except the first thing they offer because there is always something a little extra to gain from a little fight. lol

i have a wildwood 28bh x-lite. it has the same problem. the floor is saging and upon further inspection the floor is very wet. the floor is made from press wood not plywood and after getting wet it has swollen. the beams are also too far apart for the type of material used(press wood). my warranty is out by only a couple of weeks and the response from my dealer is not that impressive.
