Where Is The Fuel Filter On My 1986 Pace Arrow Motorhome?

Where exactly is the fuel filter on a 1986 pace arrow with a 454ci engine?

ANSWER Greetings Eric thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the exact location of your fuel filter. What I can tell you is that it is an in-line filter between the fuel tank and the carburetor. Normally in-line filters are found along the frame rail of the RV. The exact locations vary by make, model and year of RV.

I would start by visually following the fuel line from the carb and work your way back towards the fuel tank. Even if you locate one in-line filter, you should continue tracing the fuel line all the way to the fuel tank. Some owners have been known to add a second in-line fuel filter to be on the safe side. In my opinion this is overkill, but some people thought that two fuel filters were better than one.

I am going to assume that you are not the original owner of this RV. If you recently bought your motorhome from a private owner or even a dealership, you might want to reach out to them and see if they can recollect the exact location.

If we are lucky one of our RVing visitors will read this page and be able to tell you exactly where to look for the filter. If they know the location of the fuel filter they can let you know by clicking on the add a comment link located near the bottom of this page.

Happy RVing

1986 Pace Arrow Fuel Filter Location

On my 1986 34 ft. Pace Arrow it is a cannister type mounted to the frame rail, outboard side, beside the fuel tank, close to the electric fuel pump which is also mounted to the frame rail.

1987 bounder fleetwood fuel filter arrangement

I have a 1987 Bounder motorhome with a similar set-up for the 454. I have a convenient compartment with a storage door on the passenger aft side of my Class A by the fuel fill door that has 2 screw-on canister-type filters, and IU believe the fuel pump; which I'm starting to think is what needs replacing on mine to get fuel to the carb. As for the fuel filters, trace the fuel line back. Luckily, these old units are pretty physical and mechanical, so you should find it.

under the gas tank!

I have a 1983 Pace Arrow 33' 454 chevy chassis and the fuel filter was up under the gas tank! Had to remove the gas tank to change a fuel filter! What a stupid design. I relocated it to the chassis where I can get to it next time.

pacearrow fuel filter
by: Anonymous

I have a 29ft pacearrow 1984 with the same engine. I have 2 fuel filters on my motorhome. The first one is in the fuel line that attaches to the carburetor. It is a small paper filter. The second one is located next to the fuel tank on the frame at the rear of the motor home. My fuel filler neck is on the right rear of my motor home, just behind the rear tire. If you crawl under the motorhome just behind the right rear tires it is mounted on the frame rail next to the helper fuel pump. It is a screw on canister type with an element inside. To remove turn the canister ccw looking from the bottom. should come off easily if it has not been neglected for to long. Replacements are readily avalible at most parts stores.
