Where is The City Water Connection on an RV?

by Jerry Shankle
(Tampa Fl)

Where do I hook up the external water line? I have a fill port for the tank, but can’t find the external hook up port.

ANSWER: Greetings Jerry thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I cannot tell you the exact location of the City Water connection on your RV, but I can give you some information on where to look and what you may have to do to get connected.

On some RVs you use the same connection as you do for filling up your RV's fresh water holding tank and there will be a valve that you use to change between tank fill and city water.

On other RVs there are separate connections for filling up the tank and using city water. If this is the case check all around the exterior of your RV and in exterior compartments as the city water connection may be on the opposite side of the RV from where the tank fill connection is.

Just a reminder here, when filling up your tank or connecting to city water you should only use a Drinking Water Hose. The Drinking Water Hose should not be used for anything else. The other precaution you should take is to make sure you use a Water Pressure Regulator (if your RV does not have one built in) on the hose when using city water in your RV to prevent damage to the water system of your RV from excessive water pressure.

I hope this helps.
