What should I use to seal the roof of my RV?

by Rocke
(Portland, Oregon)

I have a 1985-32ft. Pinnacle motorhome and I was wondering what is the best way to seal the roof on it. It is a one piece roof. The motorhome itself is made out of fiberglass.

It had quite a few leaks in it when I bought it. I have scraped off the old stuff that was on the roof and now I need to reseal it before the weather turns bad. I live in the Northwest and the rains will be coming soon. I need to know what is the best product to use for it?

Thank-you.

ANSWER: Greetings Rocke thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

There is a product called Liquid Roof that I understand a lot of RVers have had good results with. I need to let you know up front that I have not personally used this product but, from the research that I have done if I ever need to redo the roof on my motorhome this is the product I would choose to do it.

Here are the advantages of Liquid Roof according to its manufacturer.

* Can be applied over most roofing materials with the exception of silicone and petroleum based materials.
* UV and ozone resistant
* excellent against ponding water
* waterproofs immediately on application.
* not damaged by freezing and has long term flexibility
* final cured properties not damaged by adverse conditions
* one coat application
