What Is A "Live In Rating" For RVs?

by Terry Nelson
(Louisville Ky.)

Exactly what makes a trailer rated for live in and not live in. What is the difference?

ANSWER: Greetings Terry thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

Well after close to 40 years of being involved in RVing, I have to admit that I have never heard of a "Live In Rating" for Motorhomes or trailers. That does not mean that there is no such rating, it just means that I have not heard of it nor do I know the criteria used to determine this rating.

So as usual when I am at a loss of words or knowledge I turn to my RVing visitors to educate me on what I don't know. So if any other RVer would like to help out by telling both Terry and I what a "Live In Rating" is and how it is determined, I would greatly appreciate it.
