What Does The ECT Power Button On The Dash Of My Toyota Dolphin Motorhome Do?

by Anonymous

What does "ect power" mean? My 1992 Toyota Dolphin has a push-button setting on the dash labelled "ect power."

ANSWER: ECT stands for Electronically Controlled Transmission. When you activate ECT by pressing the button the transmission will shift gears later which will give you more power when passing another vehicle or climbing a hill.

Activating ECT will also decrease your motorhomes fuel economy because it does increase your engines RPM before shifting to another gear; so you should use it sparingly if you want to get the best fuel mileage possible.

I hope this helps.
