The Outdoor Shower On Our RV Is Leaking, How Do We Stop The Leak?

by Shari Justus
(Mill Run PA)

We have a Coachman Catalina and accidentally hit the pump switch and cracked the inner piece of the outdoor shower unit. We are far from anything and want to know if there is a way to shut that part off so we can get water for the rest of the camper. Right now all the water is going out that shower knob outside.

ANSWER: Greetings Shari thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I am afraid that just like when you break a water pipe or water fixture in your home, you are going to have repair or replace the broken pipe or fixture as there are no individual shutoff valves for different sections of the RV's plumbing.

The only exception of the above rule is when your RV comes with a built in water heater bypass valve or you install an after-market Water Heater bypass kit to use when winterizing your RV.

In your case however even if you have a water heater bypass valve it will not stop the water from leaking out of the broken pipe or fixture of your RVs outside shower.

Sorry to hear that you are going through this.

Outdoor Shower On Our RV Is Leaking

It's probably old news - can't tell since there is no date on the question. But just in case...
This happened to us also. For a temporary fix I took off the shower head from the hose and put in about two inches of caulk then plugged the hole with a soft foam ear plug I had in the tool box. I let it dry for an hour before turning the water back on.
