RVing is About Discovering New Places

I have lived in central Florida for over 20 years and I have been an RV fan for sixty plus years. I love to find those out of the way places that no one seems to know about. Just recently I found a campground in west Pasco County near Dade City. It is about 5 miles east of Dade City and Hwy 301 next to the Withlacoochee River.

The camping area is small with only about fifteen large sites and only one restroom and shower for the whole park. There is a dump station and there is electric and water.

All the RV sites are in a tree-shaded hammock of giant oak trees and the ground is covered with leaves. No paved sites and the roads in the park are crushed asphalt. There is a small cemetery and wood Church and a few cabins on the edge of the camping area.

There is a launching dock on the river for canoes and kayaks and several trails through the forest.

The few days we were there, there was only one other camper in the RV sites and the Park Ranger brought us wood for our fire ring for free.

You can be sure I will go back there again and again.

Withlacoochee River Park
by: Anonymous

Now you have done it. Everyone will know about this little quiet RV park.

It's called The Withlacoohee River Park and it's at 12449 Withlacoochee Blvd, Dade City, Fl. 33525 and the telephone number is 352-567-0264 and the website is at www.pascocountyfl.net.

All the camp sites are tree shaded and most of them are large enough for a 5th wheel.

The road into the park is narrow and twisted, take your time and read the signs.

The dump station is across the field from the camp sites, but very easy to get to and has water to wash up your stuff.

The paved trail is wide enough for a bike if you take it easy and watch for people walking.

See you there.
