Our Favorite RVing And Camping Destination Is Portland Oregon

We stayed the whole of the summer up at Portland Fairview RV Park which is about 9 miles east of central Portland.

After spending 3 winters in Las Vegas, it is so good to get away to somewhere with greenery, rivers & streams, & in the case of our RV site, there was a multitude of waterfalls within 15 miles of the campground.

The Columbia Gorge is a place of exceptional beauty, & I have traveled most of Europe & the West coast of the USA, so I feel I can make such a statement.

There are forests, rivers, lakes, parks, museums, art galleries, pubs, clubs, restaurants, art festivals, cultural centers, rose gardens, arboretums, marinas, boats, airports, & much, much more in & around Portland.

The RV site we stayed at had over 400 spaces, yet not once were we disturbed by noisy neighbors, car noise or barking dogs (although there is a train line nearby).

It was clean, & had immaculately kept gardens & lawns, & the staff were always polite & helpful.

There is also a gym, clubhouse, spa & swimming pool, as well as the usual laundry & clean bathrooms.

The weather when we arrived in March was chilly, but being English, wasn't uncomfortable, but the continual heavy rain could get a bit depressing when you're confined to a 5th wheel for a few days.

April sees an improvement, with warmer weather & less rain, & then June was a delight for me, with only occasional rain, nice temperatures, & sunny days with big white clouds drifting over.

We had to leave to return to Vegas in mid September,& I had withdrawal symptoms even before we'd left, so you can imagine how depressed I was on our arrival back to the dry, barren desert with temperatures still in the high 90's & the relentless sight of stucco houses & freeways with high rises on every skyline view.

Ah well, it'll soon be next year, & we'll be packing up & getting away to more adventures in our beloved 5th wheel....(not forgetting my trusty F-350 dually!)
