How Do I Convert The Dining Table In Our Travel Trailer To A Bed?

by Lolly
(GA)

I just purchased a 2005 Kodiak 160 from a private seller. We are thrilled with our purchase, but the previous owner had no manuals or paperwork. Thankfully, I was able to locate and download the manual from your website, but I do have a question that I cannot find an answer for. Does the kitchen table become a small bed?

Most RV's seem to have this option, but I cannot figure out how to convert the table into a bed. The table is connected to the floor with 2 metal posts that are bolted to the bottom-side of the table and the floor. Is there a way to remove the posts so that the table can be placed between the cushions to create a bed?

ANSWER: Greetings Lolly thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

Based on the description you have provided there is a pretty good chance that the dining table in the model Travel Trailer you have does not convert to a bed.

The only thing I can suggest is to look at the attachment points of the table again to see if there are any release mechanisms to detach the support poles.

The other thing you can try is to gently lift up on the table top to see if it and the poles come free. If these two steps do not work then in all likelihood the table is not meant to be made into a bed.

If all else fails you might want to contact the previous owners and see if they know the secret to converting it to a bed.

I hope this helps.

GET A MANUAL FOR YOUR CAMPER

WE JUST PURCHASED A USED TRAVEL TRAILER. IT DIDN'T COME WITH A MANUAL, SO I GOT ON THE MANUFACTURES WEB SITE AND PUNCHED IN MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR AND A MANUAL WAS THERE ANE WE PRINTED IT OFF. WE JUST WENT ON OUR FIRST TRIP OVER MEMORIAL WEEKEND. WE COULDN'T FIGURE OUT A FEW THINGS, YET I STOOD THERE WITH MY PRINTED MANUAL AND THE PEOPLE CAMPING ACROSS FROM US WERE SOOO HELPFUL. TTHE FELLA GAVE US SOME POINTERS AND TOLD US HE WAS LIKE US YEARS AGO WHEN HE WENT FOR THE FIRST TIME.. OTHER THAN A LITTLE RAIN HERE AND THERE WE LOVED IT AND I AM TRYING TO MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR OUR NEXT CAMPING TRIP. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY.

dining table to a bed
by: Pam Hayes

If there are supports where the seat cushions meet the sides under the table, that would suggest that it converts to a bed. The table would rest on those supports and the the back seat cushions would go on top of the table. Table top should lift off the poles and out of the floor. Good luck.
