ANSWER Hi Bunker, yes unfortunately Fleetwood Enterprises shut down their Travel Trailer Division in 2009. They filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Fleetwood Enterprises is home based out of Riverside California and has been producing RVs for over 60 years and they are still manufacturing motorhomes at this time.

The RV Industry as whole was hard hit by the rough economy back in 2007 through 2009 and many RV manufacturers declared bankruptcy and many more closed their doors permanently. Check out this list we have of RV Manufacturers that have closed their doors permanently. What RV Manufacturers Are Out Of Business?

2009 was not a good year for Fleetwood Enterprises, in January of that year their stock was delisted by the New York Stock Exchange. The over the counter shares at one point were only worth 1 cent. This was very sad considering that Fleetwood Enterprises was part of the Fortune 500 for 28 years. Back in 1998 Fleetwood had over 21,000 employees and in 2009 they fell below 3000 employees.

Currently the RV Industry is very strong. But it took many years for the RV Industry from that economic disaster. finally consumer confidence improved and people started buying RVs again, many of the remaining RV Manufacturers suffered the same fate as Fleetwood. Many RV buyers realized at that time that the economic doom and gloom of that period created a discounted RV market that that we have not seen since then. Read these two articles I wrote back then that showed how you could get extraordinary discounts back then. Can I Get 50% Off The Price Of A New RV Right Now? and Is Now The Right Time To Buy An RV?

I realize this post is old, but thought I'd clarify that Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. was dissolved in banktuptcy court in June 2009 and did NOT manufacture motorhomes after that date. Around that time, certain of the company's motorhome division's brands and assets were purchased from the bankruptcy by Allied Industrial Partners (AEP was later renamed REV Group). REV Group owns REV Recreation Group, the current manufacturer of Fleetwood and American Coach brand motorhomes, brands formerly manufactured by FEI. REV RV also manufactures Holiday Rambler brand motorhomes after REV Group purchased certain brands and assets of Monaco RV LLC from Navistar. REV RV manufactured Monaco brand motorhomes for a period of several years after the MRV acquisition. The Monaco brand has been out of production for approx. 2 model years. REV RV currently manufactures Class A Gas and diesel coaches. (Note: I have firsthand knowledge of these events because I was an employee of FEI and continue to be an employee of REV.)
