ANSWER Greetings thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

Important Update: Since I answered this question Winegard has released a brand new antenna called the Winegard Rayzar Air antennaicon. This multi-direcional antenna was designed from the ground up by Winegard to maximize signal reception of digital TV channels, and expands the coverage area to provide maximum channel reception with less aiming or pointing. Watch the video below to learn more:

If you currently have a Sensar Antenna on your RV you can buy a Rayzar AIR Retrofit HD TV Antennaicon that you install on your existing system. If you have a different antenna or no antenna at all than you will have to buy the Full Rayzar AIR HD TV Antenna systemicon. The Complete kit includes the amplified antenna with the boom and lift assembly, the 12-volt power supply and interior control parts, 20’ and 6’ lengths of coax cable and the mounting hardware.

The SensarPro TV Signal Strength Metericon mentioned in the video is an optional accessory.

End Of Update

I am not sure what type of TV Signal Booster (amplifier) you have, but the one I recommend is the PCT 1-PORT BI-DIRECTIONAL TV SIGNAL BOOSTER. The reason I recommend this booster is because it is highly rated by people who own it. It boosts both Digital and Analog signals, It is easy to install and can be used on systems that use an antenna to receive signals as well as cable TV systems. It also supports pay-per view and video on demand. The most important factor is that it can improve signal strength by
up to 32 times (15 dB).

If you have a crank-up Winegard Sensar Antenna, you can also try installing Winegard's new attachment called the Winegard Wingman. The Winegard Wingman is simple to install and attaches to your existing Winegard batwing antenna with simple snap-on screws to the Sensar head to increase db gain up to 100% on DTV channels. The Wingman should improve reception of Digital TV signals whether you are using a Digital TV Converter Box or have a TV already equipped with a built in digital TV tuner. There is a video on how easy it is to install The Wingman attachment Here.

If you have already done all of the above, I would suggest that you check all the TV cable connections in your RV. You should start at the top of your RV and check the cable connected to the antenna itself and then work your way to the cables attached to your TVs while checking all the cable connections in-between. All cables should be securely attached. Check for any breaks or cracks in the cable itself. If in doubt replace the cable.

If after you have done all of the above and you still are not receiving the digital TV signals, you are going to have to change the location of your RV to a better reception area. RVers are not the only ones that are having problems receiving the new Digital TV signals. Quite a few people who have antennas on their stick homes are having problems with Digital TV signals. The key to getting good Digital TV Signals sometimes boils down to location, location and location.

If your RV is permanently parked in a bad Digital TV Reception area, the only alternative you may have is installing a RV Satellite System.

I hope that this information has been helpful to you.

Happy RVing
