Choosing the right cover for your rv

Looking for a cover for our travel trailer. There are so many out there, and reading the reviews is overwhelming! They are so expensive, and I would like to get one that lasts.

Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Phyllis yes, purchasing a cover for your RV can be a very challenging endeavor considering all the different types of materials that are available out there.

You do not want to go out and buy a cheap RV cover because when it comes to RV Covers, you do get what you pay for. A cheap, ill-fitting RV cover will not properly protect your RV and, in some cases, can also damage your RV.

There are a few different types of materials used to make RV Covers. Some materials will work better in certain parts of the country than other materials. Please refer to the list type below to find out which type of material will work better for you.

Tyvek® RV Covers

The Tyvek® material is manufactured by DuPont™ and they state that Tyvek®:

* Effectively blocks 99.8% of the sun's damaging UV rays that can fade interior and exterior surfaces

* Keep your recreational vehicle cooler during warm weather by reflecting sunlight.

* Provide superior water resistance while allowing moisture to escape.

* Resists acid rain, bird droppings, tree sap, and other forms of environmental pollution to keep your RV clean.

* Holds out more than 98% of dirt and dust particles that can scratch and damage your RV's surface.

Tyvek RV® covers are designed for harsh environments and work exceptionally well in intense UV, snow, or dust areas. The video below will give you more information on the Tyvek RV® Cover.

SFS Aqua Shed® RV Covers

* Triple the protection offered by standard covers.

* The SFS Aqua Shed® material features a layer of
microporous, breathable film sandwiched between layers of soft, durable polypropylene.

* A Breathable middle layer allows water vapor to escape yet prevents most liquid from penetrating all three layers.

* Provides better protection for higher moisture climates.

SFS Aqua Shed® RV Covers are best suited for moist climates such as New England and the Midwest.

Once you decide which cover material is right for your RV, you will have to measure your RV to get a properly fitting cover.

How to measure your RV for a Cover

1. Measure the length of the RV from bumper to bumper. You do not need to include any hitches or roof ladders in your measurements.

2. Measure the height of your RV. Start at the roof and measure it to the bottom of the RV frame. Don't measure to the ground. Do not include the roof air conditioner in your measurements, as most covers are made to accommodate the air conditioner.

3. Measure the width of your RV.

If you plan to purchase a Custom-Fit Cover for your RV, you must use their specific measuring instructions. If you buy your cover on-line from somewhere like a Camping Worldicon all you have to do is provide them with the type, make, model and year of RV and they will send you the proper cover for your RV

To complete the proper protection of your RV you should also consider purchasing some tire covers for your RV's tires as the tires on your RV are also susceptible to damage from the Sun and UV Rays.
