Can We Use Home Furniture In Our RV?

Can we use (and stabilize) non - RV furniture in our 2008 Airstream 23 foot camper? Can it be done in a custom - ordered RV?

ANSWER: Greetings Carol thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I wish that I could give you a simple yes or no answer to this question, but I can't.

Because of limited space available in and RV, portions of the RV are dual utilized. For example you may have a couch in your RV and when you look under your couch you may also find that you have a freshwater tank under the couch, so you simply cannot remove that couch and put a couch designed for home use in that space.

Another problem is that if the furniture is in a room slide out, you may find that you cannot remove that furniture without adversely affecting the structural integrity of the slide out itself. Take a look at the video below for even more information.

So as you can see replacing or rearranging the furniture in an RV is not as easy as it would be in your home.

Even if you custom order an RV you will still have to dual utilize the space available and depending on the area and what other RV accessory is there you may have to use furniture specially designed for RV use.

I hope that this information has been helpful to you.
